International Women’s Day: Oyibode Hails Udu Women, Urges Supportive Action On Gender Equality

The Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Olorogun(Hon.),
Vincent Ogheneruemu Oyibode JP, FCIA, has congratulated women in Udu Kingdom and across the world as they commemorate the 2026 International Women’s Day today, Sunday, 08/03/26.

In a goodwill message released to mark the global celebration the Udu council Chairman acknowledged the invaluable contributions of women to family life, community development, governance, and nation-building.

The 2026 celebration of International Women’s Day is themed “Give to Gain,” a global call for solidarity, mentorship, and the mutual empowerment of women to create opportunities for growth, success, and societal advancement.

Oyibode noted that women in Udu Local Government Area have consistently demonstrated resilience, leadership and dedication in various fields, including education, business, politics, and community service.

He emphasized that the progress recorded in many communities across Udu Kingdom would not have been possible without the tireless efforts and sacrifices of women.

According to him, “Women are the backbone of every thriving society. In Udu Kingdom, our mothers, daughters, and sisters continue to play pivotal roles in nurturing families, strengthening communities, and supporting developmental initiatives.”

The council chairman further commended Udu women for their commitment to peace, unity, and grassroots development, describing them as reliable partners in the collective effort to advance the growth of the local government area.

Oyibode also stressed the need to continue empowering women through education, entrepreneurship, and leadership opportunities, in line with the theme of this year’s celebration.

“The theme ‘Give to Gain’ reminds us that when women are supported, mentored, and given opportunities, society as a whole benefits. As a government, we will continue to encourage policies and programmes that uplift and empower women in Udu,” he said.

He particularly praised women in Udu for their strong presence in community leadership, trade, and social development, noting that their contributions have significantly shaped the socio-economic progress of the area.

“Udu women are industrious, courageous, and compassionate. Their roles in sustaining families, promoting peace, and driving economic activities remain invaluable to the overall development of our communities,” Oyibode added.

The council chairman therefore called on all stakeholders to continue supporting initiatives that promote women’s rights, inclusion, mentorship, and equal opportunities in society.
